By default, all plain text emails come with three links in the footer.

1. An unsubscribe link

2. A subject Access Request link

3. A view online link

Whilst each link serves a purpose, let's be honest, nothing screams bulk email louder than an unsubscribe link in your email, so we've given Kulea users the ability to remove these links.

Please note, an easy mechanism for unsubscribing from marketing communications is a legal requirement, so when the unsubscribe link is removed, it is replaced with a line of text asking the email recipient to reply with a request to unsubscribe.  These requests MUST be honoured through the manual archiving of the contact.

But why would you remove footer links?

1. You're sending an email out to a list of engaged contacts, such as clients, employees, members or brand champions. In this case, you want your email to feel like it's coming straight from you, not via an email marketing platform.

2. You're sending out small batches of highly targeted emails, and don't mind having to manually archive any unsubscribe requests.

3. You're carrying out small-batch cold outreach, and you want your emails to feel highly personal.

As an added bonus, Email Service providers (ESPs) see a high ratio of links as a spam indicator, and removing superfluous links will reduce the chances of your emails going into the promotions folder.

Why would you not remove footer links?

1. If you're sending out large email campaigns.  The extra work required to manually remove unsubscribes and provide Subject Access Requests may negate the benefits of removing the links

2. HTML emails don't pertain to come from an individual, so we have not included this feature on HTML email templates

To configure the links in your plain text emails, simply click the blue link at the bottom of the email settings tab and toggle the different links on or off with the toggle switches.
